Get Ready to Build with Avotap: Introducing the Future of Website Building
Avotap is coming soon! Modern landing page and website builder for the creatives and startups.
Hi everyone. My name is Jack and I am the software developer behind Avotap.
Last year, after another work project, I realized that I wanted to use all the skills I learned in one big project and make my own startup. So, here we are.
I got an idea when a friend of mine asked me to make a portfolio website for her. Then I decided to make a website builder, so she can make website herself. That's how I started to build my startup.
About Avotap
Avotap is a modern landing page builder for businesses and startups
Good design should be available to all. When I developed Avotap, I've been focusing on:
- Personal websites
- Landing pages for products or services
- Event promotion websites
- Company websites
- Portfolio websites
- Personal or company blogs
- Longform articles
So, basically it covers all that creatives and startups need.
Blocks
I aimed to create a way of building websites where the process is like a game.
Websites are assembled from ready-to-use blocks, which automatically adapt to mobile devices and are divided into semantic categories.
From here users can add as many blocks as they want. Also, it can be written by HTML and CSS from scratch (I'll show you this in a while).
Fundamental principles
My direction for development was simple: make websites work as fast as possible and make simple and powerful customizations.
Block customization
I wanted to make it easy. Because if it's too complicated, it can scare off most of the users. At the same time, it should be advanced enough to ensure the websites aren't all the same.
After devoting countless hours to building a system that would allow full block customization without complicated menus and a ton of settings, I found a solution.
Wide range of controls to suit any content of the block:
Site performance
I want to mention a couple of words about the performance of websites built on Avotap.
That's the most important thing when it comes to website builders, because non-coded websites can be slow. I found a problem with HTML. It just works slow.
So all of those blocks you see, and HTML form also is actually working with JSON. It increases the render by 16 times in the large blocks and about 7 times in total.
Wrap up
I'll share updates on the upcoming features, development, and core functionality of this project in the near future. In addition, I'll share some of the challenges I faced during development and how I'm overcoming them.
